Engineering
Authentic modeling, not guesswork.
Painstaking sampling sessions using neural modeling. Features that couldn’t be captured using this modeling were built with circuit analysis. But that’s only part of the story. We also used the reference mics that are the most popular for guitarists - the Shure SM57, Sennheiser MD421, and Royer R-121 ribbon were used to capture the authentic sound of each amp’s speaker in multiple positions, and the Electro-Voice RE-20 was used as a rear mic, or a port mic, if a port was available. Phase coherency is already applied to every mic, eliminating guesswork. A stereo ORTF pair was also used to capture the sound of the room at Fun House Studios in Colorado, an intimate room that gives a sound perfect for clean guitar. Polarity buttons are available for the rear and room mics, to help shape the sound to your preference, as not everyone wants the phase coherency to be correct.
Bypasses Give You Complete Control
Both the amp section and the speaker mixer section have separate bypass buttons. This lets you use your own IR captures in another plugin, placed right after this one, putting the amp through whatever speakers you desire. You can also bypass the amp, and use only the speaker response on another source. Or, you can record the way Johnny Smith did - direct out from the amp with no speakers at all.
The Rocky Mountain Music Museum
Located in Englewood, Colorado, the museum is home to an amazing collection of vintage guitar amps. We’ve meticulously analyzed a total of nine of these amps, and Noir Tones is the first in a set of three plugins dedicated to preserving their sound.
Specifically designed for Jazz, Country, slide guitar, accordion, steel guitar, and other instruments and genres that focus on the quality of the amp’s reproduction of the instrument, rather than how much distortion can be produced.

Yes! The standalone version comes with the plugin. You can select which version(s) you want to install, and your authorization covers everything.

Yes! Windows 10 and 11 are supported, and you can very likely run on older versions too. And any DAW that will run a VST3 plugin will work as well.

You don’t. You can run standalone. But virtually any DAW will work too.

Yes. You’ll need to create an account, and the download process requires an internet connection. Without a connection, you can still authorize offline, and in that case no more internet will be required, ever. If you authorize the normal qay, you’ll need to have an active internet connection whenever you start the standalone OR the plugin version up.
